Microsoft Word is still holding
The action of a court decision banning the spread of Microsoft Word 2003 and 2007, suspended by the Court of Appeal of the Federal District of the United States. It will remain on sale until at least until the appeal is not considered Microsoft.
As we already told, Microsoft was found guilty of copyright infringement by a Canadian company i4i. The apple of discord was used in MS Word file processing technology, built on XML. Canadian developers failed to prove that the patent for this technology belongs to them for 11 years.
The court ordered Microsoft to stop selling Word in its current form within two months and also fined 290 million dollars. Microsoft filed a motion to suspend the execution of judicial decisions. The company referred to the fact that the ban on the sale of MS Word affect the interests of its business partners and millions of users around the world.
In addition, a company representative explained that the development of new versions of Word, not using XML, by itself will take several months, more time can take their tests.
